I have a hard time calling Minneapolis and Pittsburgh "college towns", even though they each are home to Power 5 public schools.

But I like the list.

As much as I like to see Ames high on this list, there is a large part of the reasoning that goes into this list that is nothing but garbage, including some of their stupid statistics that apparently make a college town so great.

Does that mean the number 1 is the best? Because how in the world does Ames beat Fort Collins? Or Bozeman?

Don't get me wrong. I love Ames and it should be top 50. But 5 seems like a little too much credit.

I've lived in Fayetteville (AR), Fort Collins, and Champaign-Urbana. There's no way Champaign-Urbana should be ahead of the other two. It's a ********.

Wait... how does State College, PA have a higher student population than the total population?

all depends where you draw the lines for the town. the actual boundaries i'll believe it but there are a lot of very close surrounding (and basically conjoined) towns that are there because of the college
