Hmmmm, this looks pretty interesting!! Anyone ever heard of the Aptera before? You can look them up on youtube and there are reviews with them actually being driven. I read that they are supposed to be available next year for under 30k! I think that would definitely be worth it! Any thoughts?

I wouldn't want to get into an accident with that thing.

Hey, it looks pretty cool to me.

Safer than a motorcycle, and if it is durable, and affordable, I wouldn't mind one.

I would rather push my motorcycle than drive that.

Why can they not make a "normal" looking car that will get those kind of numbers for gas milage. That car looked like an airplane whose wings fell off.

I cannot agree more here... when I first read this thread I thought, sweet mother, I don't care how ugly it is I'll buy anything that gets 300 mpg.

Then I see it... I'm sorry. Drop the engine in an old Ford Festiva for all I care. It looks like I should be going on a journey 10000 leagues under the sea as opposed to going to work in that thing.

It will go 85, it goes 0-60 in 10 seconds, weighs 1,500 pounds, and 0.11 drag coefficient.

The 0-60 is a quick as most SUV's. The reason this thing does so good is because of weight and drag co efficiency.

I think it's sweet but it doesn't sound like they are going to be coming to the Midwest for a long time.

Because a "normal" looking car has the aerodynamics of a wall and normally weighs 2 tons.

Also, I don't know of any motorcycles that can get over 75mpg. I don't think the moped I had in junior high got over 60mpg and it only went 25.

I never said a motorcycle could get that kind of gas mileage. Well unless you were referring to me pushing it, then it would get well OVER 75 miles to the gallon, and I would have some extremely huge calves after that workout:confused:

I know and I'd rather ride a motorcycle as well. I would be into pushing it though.

The big question is whether you would drive this if it got 300 mpg. The new wiener mobile.

That's all I need is an uglymobile that reminds me of the "Jetsons" cartoon I used to watch as a kid. Drop a hemi in that castrated jet and then it will at least sound tough.

I heard Aptera's are the leading cause of smug

The problem with giving +rep, is that you're always out of it, when a truly great post like this comes around, and then, by the time it "recharges", you can't remember where that thread is.
