Yikes, indeed.

...and a year from now, we'll be talking about how the position is a strength, with Cousin, Garcia, Aka and Trent coming back, Ayeni coming off a redshirt, and some good recruits coming in.

Not a lot of guys to throw out there right now. I expect the bend don't break defense to go away this year, with a lot more blitzing and risks taken so these guys do not have to play as many snaps. The offense making first downs would help a lot too.

Demond Tucker - highest priority recruit to secure and for good reason.

Still think the interior DL could be better than last year, but that is not saying much.

I've always been a fan of coach McKnight, but it doesn't say a whole lot about the off season program when a guy comes in looking better having taken extended time off.

You're supposed to be getting better with those workouts-- not beat up and sore-- right? :)

Compared to what we had in 2009 that is a gold mine of talent and numbers. Would love to have Coe back but so be it, and wish Ayeni was not hurt. Not sure about Irving as he showed complete stupidity at VEISHEA. We are extremely young.

I'd actually feel really good about this team with Coe, Irving and Jensen. Big drop off after those three

I think he was talking about the renewed enthusiasm for the game and rejuvenated attitude.

First 3 games of the season are going to be trial by fire for that D-Line with 3 power running teams right out of the shoot. Yikes.

I actually think that might be better. Both Jensen and Cousin are more of a Nose Guard type so I think maybe they could be adequate pluggers on run heavy teams. Its not getting any quick penetration against the spread teams that worries me.

He left the team after last season and came back before spring. He didn't take the whole summer off. That means the only workouts he missed would've been whatever they do before spring practice. I don't really follow what you're trying to say.

Hey at least it isn't like last year where they were blowing smoke up our ***** telling us how young and fast we are. That was the truth and I can appreciate that. I can expect the start of the season to be difficult, but hope to see improvement from the younger guys. By no means will this be a position of strength this year, but barring injury or further incident, the group can only improve from here.

Also, if the offense can take some pressure off the defense, first downs and points on the board, the D will be allowed to help these guys out more. Here is hoping Mangino can do that.
