Sometimes I wonder how many younger people out there don't fully appreciate some of the past MBB Cyclone greats. So I was thinking since it's a slow time of the year, why not have people post some highlights of past Cyclone stars that show just how great they were.

I'm going to start with one of my favorite Jeff Grayer highlights......

Underrated low post duo of the Pratt-Cato connection.

Not quite as old as some of these, but an excellent example of Tinsley's greatness.

This is worth watching all the way through, with notable performance by all-time underrated team candidate Elmer Robinson. But here are three mega-moments (sorry that it bumps off-site to YouTube):

0:12 -- Urquhart to Rhodes
0:44 -- Woods to Rhodes
3:54 -- Breitbach(!) to Grayer

Iowa State-Missouri, 1988:

Footnote: Arguably the loudest game in Hilton history (based on radio feed — I wasn't there  --- but I remember you could barely hear Pete & Eric over the noise throughout the night).

I think the most fun Iowa State team to watch were the 95-96 and 96-97 teams. Anyone who didn't get the chance to witness Dedric drain a three or see Cato block a shot like it was a volleyball serve missed out on a lot of entertaining basketball.

Since they've been covered already, I'll throw out Stevie Johnson and Michael Nurse instead. Stevie was one of the few brights spots in those shaky years during the Floyd to Eustachy transition, and Michael Nurse was just solid as a rock during the 99-00 season...it seemed like he was always good for between 12-15 points each game, rarely more or less.

Nothing shows off the value of these guys' contribution better than our absolute dismantling of UCLA in the 2000 tournament. Great, great team basketball.
