It was after a made basket and there was the TV timeout with the next dead ball whistle, any ideas?
Why did Scott Drew call timeout right under 12 minutes

We were thinking the same thing too at the game. I think it's because the last few possessions the pace was picking up and we were trading baskets. Drew knew his team couldn't keep up the pace for the duration and wanted to slow it down.
Scott Drew's strategy in every game is to call timeouts at the craziest moments to make the other coach think he knows something that he doesn't. And if that doesn't work, the other coach will think he's crazy and get nervous about what else he might do.
Drew coached a good game last night, one of his better games. The thing is, as soon as we ended our 0-13 start, you could feel momentum slipping away from Baylor. That TO was Drew's last gasp to hold on.
He called the timeout so he and Heslip could compare hair styles and comb each other's hair with their hands.
Funny thing is, when he called that timeout I thought "That is a good timeout by Fred. Cherry just got a good shot off and we need to 1) answer on the other end and 2) talk about how to make sure it doesn't happen next time down." I laughed when I saw it was a Scott Drew timeout.
Because he knew at the under 12 min mark is when Fred makes his changes to win the game. I don't know if he wanted to give Fred a chance at putting those changes in so he could see them and adjust or he was just being Scott Drew.
And can he do something about his hair/overall general appearance? He looks like an accountant from the 1970's.
I think Drew is like that crazy blackjack player that stays at weird times and hits when he shouldn't. Sometimes it pays off for him but the other people at the table sit there and watch, fascinated, when he goes down in flames.
What do you want him to do with it. Like a lot of men he is losing his hair, when you get to that point you kind of just go with what you have.
I do agree Drew has developed into a much better coach than he used to be. But his timeout usage is atrocious and continues to hamper his team.
Shave his head. I started shaving my head when I was 18, proper prior planning.
And maybe stop wearing that same white shirt and mustard yellow tie. Switch it up son!
