There was definitely a small push in the back when the ball was in the air, but nothing to warrant a foul call.

There was a shove, but shouldn't the shot have counted since it was already in the air?

I think it did, and then Valley got free throws that won the game, that's what the article makes it sound like anyways.

I don't really know the rules on something like that specifically, if the ball had hit the rim and they were going for a rebound I wouldn't be upset at the push in the back being called. I don't know if/how the shot being made changes things.

Yuck. Feel bad for the kid who made the shot to tie it up.

There was a small push, but I don't know if that is really calle unless maybe the guy who was shoved was in rebounding position on a miss and didn't get it.

I'm surprised the ref called it, but putting two hands on a guy like LeGrand did is a definite no no. It was a foul I think.

Edit: And there was displacement.

Horrible call. IMO, any kind of a call under the basket has to be pretty blatant. If a kid wants to get a call, he needs to actually be physical and get position.

Now that I watch it again, I think that guy just likes pushing people. He pushed a guy at the top of the key, pushed a guy while he was posting up, and then pushed a guy while the ball was in the air.

I still think that's a really weak foul call.

The high school divisions in Iowa always confuse me. I always think 4A are the smallest schools. In Wisconsin D1 is the biggest, all the way down to D5 for basketball and D7 for football

It was a foul, IMO, but given its State and Dubuque Senior just hit a great shot to send it to OT, you swallow your whistle and send it to OT.

I've been debating whether to say this or not, but the guy who committed the foul is an Iowa football commit.

...and he will be pushing around defensive linemen for the Hawkeyes next season.

1. No doubt in my mind its a foul for sure

2. I'm a firm believer that fouls shouldn't be called unless it's completely obvious the last 5 seconds of a game. In no way possible could that ball have hit the rim, bounced out, and the Senior player get the tip in in 0.5 seconds. No way at all.

So, while I agree that it was a foul, I disagree that it should've been called. Let them play. Some refs don't have that concept.
