Since he is a freshman now does that mean that the earliest he would play would be 15'-16' if he did come to Iowa State?

Loved the quote on White. He was just a high school kid when Ryce was playing so it's cool that kids all the way out in California notice Iowa State. I would take this kid in a heartbeat.

What is to stop a player from just spending 1 year in JUCO and getting 3 years at D1? Academics?

Depends if the qualified academically out of high school. If he did, he's allowed to join next year. If he did not, he's gotta get his 2 year degree from JUCO.

If he is a 3 for 2 guy who can't sign till 15, he must be a player because typically schools only actively recruit JC's for the current signing period

If a Juco gets that much attention - do they ever verbal to a school, and then redshirt their last Juco year so as to be a 3 to play 3 type instead of a 3 to play 2?

Yep. Some guys go to JUCO to get more exposure even if they qualified out of high school whereas others need the JUCO degree to be eligible for a 4 year college.

I would think the player would have to be pretty unhappy at his junior college to do this. As a fan it would be ideal to see this scenario play out, but as a student athlete that would mean a fifth year of college and a year of sitting out and not playing the game you love.

Yep, he is a 3 for 2 guy that cannot sign until 2015, and he is very good.

He will have quite the list of offers by the time he can sign. He is athletic, long, and skilled. He played with four 4-stars in high-school and another guy that signed with Penn State.
