Re: Rashad Vaughn

If Wayne Seldon stays at KU and the Harrison twins stay at Kentucky I imagine RV won't be going there. I think his UNC official visit will be very very VERY important. They could get to woo him last if he doesn't visit KU or UK.

Look, it's possible for both parties to be wrong here. The Strib's article was poorly researched and investigated, and was just spewing out theories that many people in this town have privately held for a while. But my thought tends to be that if you're trying to run an article like that, you've got to have something other than speculation. Basically, the Strib is a terrible newspaper, with an even worse sports page, and print media can't die in this town soon enough for me.

But on the other hand, this is clearly Rashad trying to get Gopher fans mad at the Strib when we had no real chance. You'd have to be pretty naive in my opinion to not see that Rashad's recruitment is about as filthy as it gets right now. Whichever team ends up with him will automatically be entered in my Kentucky, Baylor, West Virginia top-five dirty program list, because this process has smelled strongly of impropriety. So it's clear that Rashad wasn't interested in coming here. In a way, that's made it easier. I'm more upset with how Reid handled his recruitment than Rashad or Tyus. We always knew that Tyus wanted to be on the "big stage" with his buddy. I'll not be a fan of his, but whatever, I can understand it. Rashad (and his people) are in it for the under-the-table money. Okay, I don't think much of their character, but they're not the first and they'll not be the last. Reid inviting the Gophers fans, pretending they were in the mix, to drum up local interest in his self-serving announcement? That galled me.

Are you guys all ready to be a "dirty program?" This one made me giggle.

That fan must either be very young or in denial. Minnesota was caught pretty blatantly cheating less than 20 years ago. Does that not count?

You just have to laugh at ISU and all of our money. Yeah, we're just giving it a way over here...

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If for whatever reason Jeff Jones committed to ISU, I think Gopher Hole would blow up on the spot.

Why is West Virginia dirty? And I think if we were paying players that our football team would have won more then 3 games. I guess this is just some lame excuse Minny fans use, as to say we get what we want all the time and others can only cheat to keep us from that.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It wasn't very smart of Minnesota fans and media. I think they felt "entitled" to Rashad (perhaps like we felt about Harrison Barnes). They became very insecure when Rashad started considering other schools, although Minnesota was still very much in the race. When Rashad moved out of state, gopher media and fans completely lost it and took their insecurity to a whole new level. Effectively took themselves out of Rashad's list with their endless accusations and allegations.

I've been told by someone who knows that none of the "big 3" were ever going to go to Minnesota once Tubby was canned and there was a very slim chance of any of them going to the U (LOL) even with Tubby especially Jones.

Easy to believe. Top recruits in the nation don go to the home school when the new coach has had ~3-4 months to create a relationship unless the kids REALLY want to stay home. (Barring bluebloods)

2015 Mock Draft by NBADraft.net doesn't even have Rashad in the draft, and it considers undecided high schoolers.

Interesting, considering he wants to be a one and done. But with the talent in that class, he may not be a lottery pick unless he plays 2 years.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I honestly think he'll be a 2 year college player.

If he is even contemplating the idea of being a 2 year player, then it may make even more sense for him to come to Iowa St. He'd run the risk of being recruited over if he goes to a blue blood program, and it looks as though Fred has a solid foundation for 14-15 & 15-16. Only lose Hogue after next year.

IMO Rashad's one-and-done talk is a little overrated, he mentioned it as a goal he had. I am guessing every McDonalds AA probably has the same goal, that would help drive them to get better. RV should leave if he is considered a top 20 pick after his freshman year, as I believe Fred would advise any player to do. Rashad has the size and skill POTENTIAL to be one and done but there is a lot of basketball that will be played before the 2015 draft to see if that potential is realized. I don't think Vaughn would leave school if there is a solid chance he falls out of the 1st round.
