Re: Rashad Vaughn

You keep saying this and are the only one saying it. Everyone has followed RV very closely here and I am sure someone would have heard about him visiting KU. I think it's BS

I remember it. I believe in a gopher hole interview. Maybe he was just planning but heck he took an unofficial to chapel hill thought he duscussed Phog and hilton said they were the tops (Compared to williams).. maybe am remembering wrong.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's way too early to say certain players will probably stick around for another year. Just because the Harrison twins haven't played up to their potential yet doesn't mean that they won't be making huge strides in February and March when it really counts. I realize these guys have had scouts keeping a close eye on them all along, but the best players always peak when it counts and no better time to showcase their talents and show off than in prime time in the big dance.

It's never way too early to take a completely random guess based off of gut feel and the buzz around a player. If I am wrong, who cares? I don't have money on it. Like I said, "probably". That's only about 5% more sure than "maybe".

Vaughn has to go off of the same thing. He would be foolish to go to Kentucky or Kansas if Harrison or Selden stay in school. If he is going to make a decision in Feb/March then he will HAVE to be guessing based on his gut feel as well. I do not expect him to come to Kansas and that's fine. We have more players than we could ever find minutes for at this point.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Findlay Prep's season usually ends in April, and the signing period begins the 16th of April, so were about 70-80 days away from the Vaughn commitment if he stays true to after the season ends.

But Ballsohardcy, he said last week that he is going to commit somewhere late Feb. or early March. So that date has been moved up.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Its gonna be UNC or UK IMO

I'm not too worried about UNC. Paige is returning, and Berry is a HUGE point guard prospect that will probably give Paige a lot of time at the 2. If you throw in Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson, two recruits that play the 2 or 3, that already gives UNC four guys competing for the starting three spots. If Vaughn is added, that's 5 guys competing for 3 spots. Vaughn doesn't want competition for playing time since he wants to be a one-and-done player.

If the Harrison twins return (which they probably will), I'm confident that Kentucky is out. They've already signed a good point guard and shooting guard who, although are not as highly touted as Vaughn, will take some playing time away from him (Booker, a shooting guard, and Ulis, a point guard).

To me, UNLV doesn't stand a chance. Their coaching is awful and he would be playing in front of literally dozens of fans every night.

Not sure how I feel about Kansas, but the fact that he's not scheduling an official sounds like good news to ISU.

All of the signs point to ISU being the winner in the Rashad Vaughn sweepstakes, but ISU gets kicked in the nuts so often, that it's all but a settled deal. Let's hope that ISU's nuts don't get kicked this time. We definitely have a great shot.

I'm not sure if he did end of visiting Kansas, but he (or his camp) were always talking about going places and probably 80% of the time those plans fell through at the end.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

We are quickly approaching 10,000 posts in this thread. If Vaughn does come to ISU he could average a triple double, lead ISU to a 1 loss regular season, take ISU to the final four and lose in the Championship game and not live up to the hype that is being generated around here for him. I hope he handles 24/7 pressure well.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think it comes down to UNC or ISU. If he was going to choose Kentucky or Kansas I think he wouldn't say he was making his mind up at the end of Feb or early March since he'd want to know who was most likely leaving. I think UNLV is a long shot with who they've been playing but he knows ISU and UNC really need him and will get him his shots

Yep...no way he can live up to the hype. Predicting he will be the next Matt Thomas (message board target). Wiggins got a bit of that at KU too.

But he has a tendancy to delay on decisions. When he was cutting his list to five, that was delayed a week or two as well. Early March could turn into mid-march. I wouldn't completely go off of what he says on a timeline.

For me, just having Fred finally land a blue chipper will justify a lot of the hype for Vaughn, especially if he ends up being a burger boy. But I agree, for much of the fan base he has a near impossible standard to live up to.

Especially since a player like Vaughn ISN'T what ISU is missing in the games they are losing. They need quality big men at this point.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I was reading the rivial recap of Rashad's last game and I saw a nugget about RV not planning a visit to Lawerence at this time. Down to a 4 team race? (not sure if anyone had already posted).

On the recruiting front, Vaughn is officially down to Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa State, North Carolina and UNLV. However, the Jayhawks look to be long shots. Vaughn said that they continue to show interest, but added that he didn't have any plans to visit officially at this time. He's been to Ames and Vegas and will visit Chapel Hill when the Tar Heels host Pittsburgh. John Calipari was there to see Vaughn on Friday and the five-star said that he is looking to set up a visit to Lexington.
