Just so damn exited I couldn't help but make a game thread already.

Prediction Oklahoma's strategy on defense is to try and stop Kane and forgets to guard the 3 ball ISU nails 9 of them. Georges has a monster night with 27 points.

Final score
Iowa State 73
Oklahoma 65

We got thumped there last year and between two big games it is the perfect time for a let down. 72-70 Sooners.

All the talk of a let down. IF Freddy can't stop a let down no one can. His answer last night to the NC comment tells me there is NO WAY the Clones suffer a let down. If we lose its because of the team we are playing not because the boys don't show up. Losses may/will/should come but it won't be because we of looking past anyone. Just because things like this have happened before doesn't mean we should be waiting for a let down. STAY CALM AND BALL ON!

I'll go with 83-74.

At some point we have a let down and drop one. I just don't think this is it. I think we get through this and KU. Texas feels like the let down game to me.

I almost guarantee that Texas will be the let-down game, because I will be there, and it feels like the kind of thing that would happen when I'm in attendance.

The mistake I made in the Baylor game (in being nervous) was in looking at the match ups. Baylor had bigs and smalls, and not nearly enough in between to cover the type of guys we put on the floor. I'll have to look at OU's roster again. And while we aren't going to win every game, I think this team has proven that we should expect them to win going in to any game from here on out.

This is probably our toughest game so far this year.

Lol, we'll say that every game with a target on our backs. It's a good thing I guess.

Although, this is not an ***official game day thread*** because that belongs to CycloneRulzzz, I supposed I'll make a prediction.

Looks like they have the size to match up (similar to us, mostly mid-sized players), but do they have the talent? I think we're a little better at most positions. Their schedule hasn't been as tough as ours, with a reasonably close loss (by 11) to Michigan State, a win that looks very good at Texas, and nothing much more to mention (other than a loss at home to La Tech). Just a matter of putting our game on the floor.

I think this is a valid point. I think part of ISU's success comes from having 5 hybrid-type players on the floor that create a lot of mismatches. While Kane, Ejim, Hogue and Niang play the 1, 3, 4 and 5 spots from a traditional coach's perspective, they are truly all small forward / undersized power forward types (3 or 4s [with the exception of Kane]). We just have a bunch of really good "ball players" on the team who have a lot of talent and a coach who maximizes it well.

Can their big men play with ours? That's the overlooked question in these matchup analyses.
I don't believe that they can.

We'll be favored by 4, and win a tough one by 7.

You mean big man. Because they only have 1 (Spangler). He's a good offensive rebounder, and shooting a very high percentage. But I don't think he' matches up well with any of our bigs.

Clark matches up well with Ejim or Hogue. But they don't have anyone else who matches up with the other one. Cousins and Hield are both 6'4". One will need to take Kane (I'd guess Hield), but that leaves 6'4" 186# Cousins trying to keep Hogue off the boards.

I do think this is a game we come out flat and play sloppy for the first half. But I think in the end we win a wild one, something like 89-83.
