Wow...I thought you typed 'RELEASED' from ISU. Amazing the difference a 'D' makes.

If he has 1-1/2 yrs eligibility, I would assume CFH would have him sit until Jan 2015?

Right now he is eligible to play in any games after December 20th, 2014. I say right now because I assume and hope he will apply for a waiver to play during the first semester next year as well.

"After signing an acceptance of admission today, McKay will have one and a half years to play for the Cyclones starting on Dec. 20, 2014."

I don't think it's exactly 1.5. I think that as of now, McKay is eligible from December 20, 2014 through the end of the 2015-2016 season.

Any idea if this type of appeal has a good chance at being granted?

He decided to transfer after semester started at Marquette but before he ever played. Probably a decent chance. I think I heard waivers for these types of transfers are usually granted. Just have to see.

For example, Bluford is transferring but he played spot minutes. Probably wouldn't get a waiver since he did play. McKay never even sat on the bench at a Marquette game.

@Trey_Scott3: I can't see how a Jameel McKay waiver would pass — told us reporters he left Marquette b/c of playing time, style — but never know w/NCAA.

There has to be more to it than just playing time and style of play. It is not like Marquette had a coaching/style of play change. He should have known what style of play and playing time he would get at Marquette when he was getting recruited out of Indian Hills CC.

Oh well, it is in the past. I hope he receives a waiver and he can play immediately next year. I am really excited to see him in a Cyclone uniform.

I remember reading that once he got there, coaching staff wanted to use him as more of a traditional 5 spot. He prefers the stretch 4 and thought that is what he was being recruited to play.
