There was a lot of good music this year. Here's my list:

1. Arcade Fire - Reflektor
2. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
3. NIN - Hesitation Marks
4. Bowie - The Next Day
5. Chvrches - The Bones of What You Believe

I also found several older albums recently that I really enjoyed. So my new to me list:

1. Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
2. The last three Muse albums
3. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions

It seems you and I have similar music interests. Arctic Monkeys new album "AM" is amazing and is currently constantly spinning on vinyl at my place....May want to check it out if you haven't. To me it sounds like a tighter/cleaner version of The Black Keys "El Camino"

The mention of 2 Chains in any sort of best albums discussion should be grounds for banishment.

Anyone who uses the lyrics "she got a big booty so I call her big booty" or "chain hang to my dang-a-lang," is not an artist.

Music is entertainment. If you don't think 2 chainz's lyrics are entertaining (read:funny) then that's just your opinion man...

I'd need to go through my music to make a full list, but I can say that The National's Trouble Will Find Me is at #1 for me. By quite a bit. Iron & Wine's Ghost on Ghost is probably #2.

My 2nd graders are pretty much the only people I know that enjoy 2 Chainz.

In my opinion, there is alot of bad music in this thread.

It is literally your opinion and that is great! YOU know what you like. YOU are the one that decides. I'm not gonna lie, music is one of the least important things in my life. You know why? I'm deaf in one ear and I don't catch a lot of things in music, especially complex music. I like good beats and instrumentals because I can kinda make that out, words are the least important to me because I have to strain to make them out for a lot of songs.

Do people still talk in terms of albums? I figured by the time my kids grew up they wouldn't even know what an album meant.

I'm old so I'll nominate Pearl Jam "Lightning Bolt". Not because I think it's outstanding, (it's solid, but not more than that imo) but because it's the only new album this year that I have any chance of listening to.
