The Big 12 Conference announced a public reprimand of Iowa State University men’s basketball student-athlete Melvin Ejim for directing an obscene gesture toward the crowd after fouling out of Wednesday’s game at BYU. His action is in violation of the Big 12 Conference’s Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct rules.

“Mr. Ejim violated Conference rules that require game participants to conduct themselves in a dignified manner, and exhibit respect and courtesy towards game officials, other institutions and their employees, students, and fans,â€￾ said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “I appreciate that immediately after the contest he accepted responsibility for his behavior and apologized on his own volition. I am also grateful for the expedient and professional management of this matter by Jamie Pollard and Fred Hoiberg.â€￾

Kane's punishment was that between his violent foul and Mika's violent bloody elbow BYU got about 6-8 point swing and ISU lost two starters to BYU's one. Throwing a game to BYU is enough, nobody's fault but their own they couldn't take it.
