I've never heard the term "budging" until yesterday while waiting in that long line for the game.

So what do you call it?

I hoped this was about what you do when someone budges. That would have been more colorful.
You turn around to the people you're with, or in a pinch a random stranger behind you, and give them the "can you believe this guy?" face. That's the proper protocol.

I've only used cutting or budging. Some of those are new to me.

Ditching? Wouldn't that be more applicable to someone leaving the line? Shorting? Haha; that one struck me as comical.

I've come to find out that ditching is definitely an Ohio thing. I've only heard it in Ohio but it was used a lot around me growing up. I used "cutting"
Budging is the correct answer, but I'm comfortable with cutting and even butting.
