Sequels that DON'T disappoint

The Anchorman 2 trailers have got me pumped up- I'm hoping it doesn't let me down.

We've all been disappointed in sequels before. Some purists will say ALL sequels are bad. There are some quality exceptions in my opinion. Some even better than the original. Here are a few off the top of my head:

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Jack*** 3D
Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

What other sequels stand up to the original? There must be some I'm forgetting.

Wrath of Kahn. Of course, the first Star Trek was so bad, it wouldn't take much for number 2 to do well.

I really enjoyed Major League II. If Major League is an A, this one still gets a solid B to B+ in my opinion.

How is Jaws 2 > Jaws 1? I can't think of a single aspect that is better. I'll even go as far to say Jaws 4 > Jaws 2.

Not better, but not disappointing, which I thought was the criteria. Jaws gets worse with each one in my opinion.

There's your blowback, LindenCy. I was too young to watch them when they came out (parents wouldn't let me). By the time I was old enough, I didn't have the desire. So, believe it or not, never saw one Jaws movie. However, I did read the first book...it was awesome.

I think you are right about T2 and WW 2. But Major League 2 was awful compared to 1, since they went from an R-rated comedy to PG or PG-13 for the 2nd one. Ghostbusters 2 was really weak in comparison, though I guess it is watchable.
