Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but I noticed that Michigans star center Mitch Mcgary hasn't played in a single game this season. Anyone have any inside on whether or not he will be playing this sunday? Says he hasn't practiced all preseason so this might help if Ejim cant play.

We are Iowa State. He will retun to practice Friday, put up 22 and 14 on Sunday.

It would definitely help out a lot if he can't go. Makes up for Ejim likely being gone. The first thing Hoiberg asked on the post game radio show last night when hearing Michigan won by like 30 was did McGary play? Obviously it'd be huge if he doesn't.

Live in Michigan and work with some pretty into the loop UofM fans and while no announcement has been made, pretty common assumption he won't be playing until Dec at the EARLIEST.

It's been discussed a lot here. He's out with back issues, completely unknown when he'll return, it could by Sunday but it seems unlikely.

I'm not sure if it was on Twitter, or in an article somewhere that I read, but I did see some mention that he might not even be able to come back this year at all, if his back problems don't start to improve pretty soon. Now, that could have just been wild speculation by some fan or blogger, or it could have been information from an insider......I have no idea. I don't think he will be playing Sunday though.

All this really means is that we (those who are unable to attend) get to hear Dickie V blabber on and on and on… and on… about McGary and how freaking great he is/was.

I don't know if he'll play this Sunday or not... Still even if he suits up, he wouldn't be in condition or have practice time.

Joe Stapleton @joe_stapes Follow At press conference, John Beilein said Mitch McGary is progressing, now getting reps in practice with individual no-contact drills.

McGary really should have went pro last year, he would have a been mid first rounder based on his NCAA tournament run. He was never going to come close to living up to the hype this year even if he was healthy. I still can't believe he was a preseason first team All-American pick.

Who knows...Ejim is just starting to do drills again himself.

Even if he can give us 10-15 minutes....would be huge.

The big difference, IMO, is that Ejim has been playing until the injury a few weeks ago. McGary has been out for all of the fall practices.

I think both him and Ejim will suit up, but neither will play. Perhaps a little chess match for both teams practicing to prepare for either player. Michigan is not stupid, they know this is a big game in a big-time college basketball environment. ESPN will address this issue "ad nauseam" and will highlight how good of players they both are. (All Big 12/ Big 10 Stuff, etc...)

McGary said his goal was to hopefully make it back for the ACC/Big Ten challenge which is December 3rd. I don't think we will be seeing him on Sunday.

I said this in another thread but reading between the lines it looks like they'll be happy if he can return by January. I wouldn't think this is a big enough game for Mich to rush him out there either.

Agree. Non-conference game in November. This helps us a lot, whether Ejim plays or not. He was a beast for them down the stretch and I think is the one type of player we don't match up with well.

Fred and John have a gentlemen's agreement that neither will play.

As someone else said, we are Iowa State. He will play Sunday without having any practice under his belt and put up his career high in all categories.

I don't think McGary will play, but they still have two pretty good posts in Horford and Morgan. The Wolverines play a lot like Iowa State, surround their athletic posts with a bunch of shooters. Going to be a tremendous game.
