Yeah I'm good too, but concerned in the future. I am a cable cutter. I watch OTA and stream virtually everything.

I play on Xbox live pretty much every night, download multiple 4+ gig games every month, stream Amazon Prime, use VPN to connect to work occasionally and I stream Cyclones.tv, NFL sunday ticket, ESPN3, etc. I'm well under the cap (unless the cap is messed up), but would be really upset if I went over.

how much video streaming will it take to go over that?
There goes Netflix people complaining again...four or more Rokus in your house can get mediacom a lot of money...three hours a night in a house using HD would hit the limit....couch potatos beware

FYI, the username/password you use for that is not necessarily the username/password associated with your mediacom account. It's the email address and password for the Mediacom email account they give you when you initially sign up. I just went through this BS last week when we got a letter saying that the unlimited plan we've been on for years was being discontinued and we'd have to go to their tiered usage plan.
So you should be using several email addresses?

I've streamed a ton over the last week and I'm averaging 4gb a day so I won't even use half in a month.

Do you understand anything that goes on here?
I know that you log into netflix or hbo or hulu with one email address but can you confuse their system with having multiple email urls as mediacom allows more than one email or just using anonymous? My question is what is the workaround if you do hit the cap of 250 or 80 hrs of HD a month?

No. Just no. The workaround if you hit the cap is you pay $10 for more bandwidth.

the usage meter is not based on the email address you log in with. I was only saying that the credentials required to log onto your usage meter were not necessarily the same ones that you use to log into your regular mediacom account.

Yup.

The people begging for "a la carte" should be more careful for what they wish for.

$100 for cabletv, plus $50 for mediacom internet.

In the hypothetical a la carte future,

$0 for cable tv, $110 for high-speed internet (still probably capped), $35 for ESPN suite. $15 FoxSports suite...nbcsports....cbssports......BigXII network.....

Maybe for a some, but these numbers are exaggerated for most. I'm already a streamer and get by perfectly fine on 15 mbps package which I would have regardless of whether I have cable or not. We may disagree but while I see that gradually increasing in price, I don't see me paying $110 anytime soon. You also have to factor in cable TV increases in your equation too which I'm imagining will be fairly equal to the internet increases, therefore canceling each other out. I also don't see ESPN offering a la carte at $35 if they even end up offering one at all (I may be wrong, but I don't see them selling any at $35). My guess is that it will be closer to $20-$25 (they charge around $12 in cable packages I believe). You are probably close on your other sport channel estimate. With that said, all that matters is your incremental cost increase and all that is to me is the cost of the a la carte services. Well worth it.

Well, for mediacom users that is a huge bunch of crap because people will continue to use more and more bandwidth. In the scheme of things, bandwidth has rocketed in the last five years. Google fiber is already being set up in the KC area.

Yep. They started phasing it in with new/renewed customers quite a while ago but now I think they're going to apply it to all residential customers. We signed a new two-year deal with them several months ago and it included a 250gb cap. As far as I know I haven't come close to going over so it's not a big deal to me.

I got an email from them a few weeks ago. Apparently it's how they reward 8 years of loyalty :realmad:

Just as a fyi I got this notice too and it said that less than 3% of users use more than 250GB per month. So this will likely not bother to many people.

No surprise here: Mediacom rated worst cable provider in nation | DailyDisgust

http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Media...able-WORST-CABLE-COMPANY-EVER-Internet-958107

http://www.viewpoints.com/MediaCom-Cable-TV-reviews

http://www.pissedconsumer.com/revie...ternet-phone-company-ever-20111213281447.html

The February 2010 issue of Consumer Reports ranked Mediacom amongst the worst cable companies in the United States: 15th of 16 in TV service, 24th of 27 in Internet service, and last of 23 in phone service, based on surveys.[SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP] The deepening of this trend was affirmed in the June 2012 issue of Consumer Reports, in which Mediacom was identified as the worst-rated company in the United States regarding TV service, phone service and bundled telecom services, and third worst-rated in regards to satellite Internet service. [SUP][9][/SUP]

Guess it does not matter what they charge. When they are bad, they are bad.
