You think the schools will turn down the money?

I wonder if this falls within "third tier" media rights.

I heard Texas wants to start it's own game and have high school teams in it.

How much money do you think it is? We're talking about a game that sells around 5 million copies a year. At $60, that's $300 million total, that's before the stores, the console manufacturers, and game designers get their cut, not to mention that there are 120 schools. We're not talking about that much money.

Exactly. The NCAA branding is pretty much irrelevant to football anyways.

Too bad the NCAA just doesn't go away. They're unfairness and bias towards schools and punishments is ridiculous and there isn't anything anybody can do about it.

The NCAA shot down EA Sports' request a few years ago to show field rushing & goal posts getting torn down. If that gets added it'll be a better game. If they somehow allow the user to rush the field and help tear down the goal posts, it will be the greatest game ever.

Without the NCAA's blessing, perhaps we'll see other "Unsavory" things return like disciplinary issues and coach salaries. Additions which allegedly the NCAA was disallowing.

excellent points, maybe this will be a blessing in disguise. I'm just hoping they make it for next gen at this point. I'd like to shut down my 360 in the next year or so...

Yep, I actually think this will be good for the game. Along with all of the other things that have been mentioned, what if EA added in a component of dealing with boosters, who may eventually pay your players while you turn the other cheek? Lots of potential.

That would be hilarious if they included under the table payments to players in their first college football game without NCAA endorsement.

What about licensing? Obviously the songs are separate, but I would think each school logos and stadiums could still be used with that university's blessing.

Here's hoping for EA BCS Football 2015!

Explain how Iowa State (or any smaller budget program) benefits from the NCAA going away.

Not highly significant amounts but how many times do universities refuse to allow their trademarks/logos to be used on products in return for cash?

It does suck.
I actually got a PS3 a few years back JUST for this game. I've since gotten rid of it (but each year get the itch to get another JUST for this game) and was starting to drool thinking of NCAA on the new PS4 when it comes out.

It's probably more important for exposure and basically advertising your school. A lot of kids probably choose what schools they like off of the teams they play with in NCAA and it would definitely be a disadvantage to not be in the game.

All of the universities have an agreement with the Collegiate Licensing Company, who in turn has an agreement with EA. Whether that is dissolved as well, I don't know.

Just about to say this. Also, EA has to get agreements with each conference, the Heisman Trophy people etc.

Exposure is certainly a big incentive here. If the majority of schools are in the game, you place your own at a disadvantage if you don't sign on. I think this will have very little impact on the future of the game.

Am I reading this wrong? It looks like this is just the NCAA pulling out. The schools are handled individually. Does anybody care if they remove any NCAA logos from the game? If the schools, stadiums, mascots, and fight songs are all still there, then game on.
Will it be cheaper if the NCAA pulls out?

I could give a rats *** if NCAA is on it. Isn't the NCAA the reason they pulled cool features from the game in past years? The specific example that comes to mind was fans rushing the field after an upset. I remember a screen shot of that being on the back cover of the game several years ago pre-release, then it got pulled.
