I just realized that we won't get an official NCAA game with the playoffs in it...
The NCAA doesn't administer the BCS, and it won't administer the playoff. Separate entity.

You think the schools will turn down the money?
I wonder if this falls within "third tier" media rights.
I heard Texas wants to start it's own game and have high school teams in it.
Exactly. The NCAA branding is pretty much irrelevant to football anyways.
The NCAA shot down EA Sports' request a few years ago to show field rushing & goal posts getting torn down. If that gets added it'll be a better game. If they somehow allow the user to rush the field and help tear down the goal posts, it will be the greatest game ever.
Without the NCAA's blessing, perhaps we'll see other "Unsavory" things return like disciplinary issues and coach salaries. Additions which allegedly the NCAA was disallowing.
excellent points, maybe this will be a blessing in disguise. I'm just hoping they make it for next gen at this point. I'd like to shut down my 360 in the next year or so...
That would be hilarious if they included under the table payments to players in their first college football game without NCAA endorsement.Yep, I actually think this will be good for the game. Along with all of the other things that have been mentioned, what if EA added in a component of dealing with boosters, who may eventually pay your players while you turn the other cheek? Lots of potential.
Explain how Iowa State (or any smaller budget program) benefits from the NCAA going away.Too bad the NCAA just doesn't go away. They're unfairness and bias towards schools and punishments is ridiculous and there isn't anything anybody can do about it.
How much money do you think it is? We're talking about a game that sells around 5 million copies a year. At $60, that's $300 million total, that's before the stores, the console manufacturers, and game designers get their cut, not to mention that there are 120 schools. We're not talking about that much money.

All of the universities have an agreement with the Collegiate Licensing Company, who in turn has an agreement with EA. Whether that is dissolved as well, I don't know.
Will it be cheaper if the NCAA pulls out?Am I reading this wrong? It looks like this is just the NCAA pulling out. The schools are handled individually. Does anybody care if they remove any NCAA logos from the game? If the schools, stadiums, mascots, and fight songs are all still there, then game on.
