How in the world is that not reviewable?

Aren't all scoring plays reviewed?

If, in fact, that went down according to the rules, then there's a huge hole in the the rulebook.

Ok, clarification makes sense. It's on Schwartz for throwing an illegal challenge flag. He should know the rule. Screwed himself

Just heard on the broadcast that the Schwartz's throwing the flag was the problem. Since he wasn't allowed to throw it, the Lions couldn't benefit from a review.

That makes it seem like the play was reviewable...but since the outcome would have benefited the Lions, a review was pointless.

What's the point in reviewing all scoring plays if they can't reverse that one? The challenge flag being thrown shouldn't affect the review process, even if it does result in a penalty.

I know he will get blame but you see your team getting screwed your dropping flag without thinking. Still a load of bs.

if he would have done nothing, the play would have been corrected. It's on him. Whether or not it's a good rule is no excuse for breaking it, or not knowing it.

nfl should go to college review system. should not be on coaches to understand all the details of such a complicated set of rules. point should be to get it right not create more confusion.

And it should be a yardage penalty. In no way should that result in points remaining on the board that should not be there.

As a Lions fan I am livid right now. Basically they called a 15 yard penalty along with 7 points. Stupid stupid stupid. I'm mad at Shwartz for screwing it up but really, Forsett was pretty obviously down, if he'd had been whistled down correctly there wouldn't be an issue. And the whole, 'Can't benefit from the review' thing. Isn't that exactly the opposite of how a review should work? I understand the penalty for throwing the challenge flag. But if you still were going to review the play anyway why would they want to purposely get it wrong!? stupid stupid stupid.

First thing- why is it even a penalty for throwing the red flag? What's the difference between that play and any other play when a coach throws the flag and the refs tell him it's not reviewable? There's no penalty in that situation.
Second thing - announcers did a horrible job of explaining why it wasn't reviewed.
Third thing- There really isn't much diiference between the real refs and the replacement refs.
