Cam Newton = Vince Young?

Newton has been able to get by on pure athleticism his whole life and visibly shows frustration when it isn't working anymore.

Vince Young has very real mental health issues that interfere with his ability to be an NFL player.

I don't think the two are very comparable.

Cam has basically nothing to work with at the moment. He's nearly matched the combined yardage of both running backs, his biggest target is a still very good but old Steve Smith, and a below average defense.

too early to tell. Plenty of quarterbacks have experienced ups and downs early in their careers. the article mentions Eli Manning, specifically and he's a great example. He's had tremendous ups and downs.

Cams problem is everyone else is getting paid now as well. Unlike when he was in college.

If cam keeps playing the way he is currently I could see this comparison being more accurate.

Now that defensive coordinators have had a year to disect his game they can do things to stop/confuse him.
I'm not ready to compare Cam Newton to Vince Young though.
