It doesn't make sense, but the fan overconfidence for this game really makes me feel like we are setting up for a loss.

I stopped having too much confidence in this game after watching you guys struggle against a squad like UNI in the opener and then come back and give us all we could handle or beat us the next week.

They say the biggest improvement a team makes is usually between the first and second games.

It's a rivalry game.

For all these reasons... I wouldn't want to be betting on this one.

i really wouldnt be surprised by anything in this game. If we won by 20, no shocker, if we lost by 20, no shocker. I think we have the better team, but they play well at home, and it is a rivalry game. I predict we win by 10, but anything can happen.

I'm not sure why this is surprising. I could very easily see either team winning by 10.

We have become the overconfident Hawk fans we love to hate.

I started thinking the same thing this week. I honestly think Iowa will win just because everyone (or most) think ISU is going to win or keep it close. If there is anything predictable about this rivalry game it is that it is unpredictable.

I do think it fun going into a game and not thinking "we are going to get smoked", that said, there is a reason we are 4 point dogs (or whatever the line is now)

You guys are wayyyyy over confident
Not over confident at all, just sick of rediculous homerism. I've seen CWilly pick the opposing team a lot of times because he is honest with himself and looks at the big picture. The hawk homers just NEVER seem to be able to give credit when credit is due. ISU is the better team and played and beat a better team in week one.

Iowa could barely score a touchdown last week, against NIU. NIU had a whole new offensive line, a new quarterback, maybe 4 or 5 starters back on offense. Plus these homers keep bringing up th year when Iowa played UNI close then came and whooped us. UH, didnt that Iowa team have about 7 or 8 pro players on it. Didnt the UNI team do pretty well? They were no slouch, so to compare that time to now is rediculous. Plus this is not ur older brothers or fathers Cyclones, the talant has increased so much and the coaching is at a whole different level. I just wish even if they were Iowa people that they could give us some stinkin credit. Dont be a ****** and just pick iOWA because you cant admit to yourself that this IOWa team is NOTHING like their teams of past years.

I personally think its an oxymoron for Cyclone fans to be "overconfident". This is just not the case. I think we know what we have and or have a good idea of what we have and we are CONFIDENT, which we should be. I just find it hard to find any reasons why Iowa should win this game PERIOD. PROUD TO BE ONE

Iowa winning by 10 is just as likely as any prediction made on this site, so I don't see what all the fuss is about. Every CF "expert" save one picked ISU to win, even though we are on the road and Iowa is favored by (insert current line here).

Here is the thing. Iowa very very rarely gets blown out at home. I look for either a close cyclone win..or a 10+ point cyclone loss. I just dont think you can run away with a game in kinnick.

I think ISU has had better athletes then Iowa for what will be the third straight season. Notice I said athletes, not talent. However, I think the talent is finally equal which is where better athleticism and speed will make the difference. I think this is a trend we will see for awhile. To be honest I think ISU will win about 5 in a row in this series. My bold prediction for Iowa next year? No bowl game.

To be honest I'm not sure our defense can put a full game together tomorrow and we are going to need it. IMO this game lies in the defenses hands.

You know, usually people get on you for your absolutely ridiculously dumb posts that either state the obvious or are flat out idiotic. However, I agree with you here. Without defense, the offenses would be unstoppable.

Dumb ***.

I've seen fans predicting 14+ wins for ISU on here, yet an Iowa "journalist" predicting Iowa to win by 10 in a game they're favored by in 4 is shocking I agree.

I get it. Mr. Kakert is just as delusional as fans that post here. I was thinking that since his job revolved around understanding a reporting on uofi sports he might carry a little more credence. Now I know better. Thanks!

The pressure is all on Iowa this year to win at home. They have lost alot of senior leaders the last two seasons, so leadership may be a problem. Opie Vandenburg and Mycah Hyde are about it

His job is to promote the Hokz, not report on them. His opinions carry little credence, even within the journalism community.

I'm offended by the thought that we'll only score 14, not the result.

My thoughts exactly. A 10 point loss wouldn't surprise me near as much as our O only scoring 14.
