More snow/ice headed our way...

Am I the only one that gets a rush out of driving in this weather? I don't drive fast or anything but it doesn't bother me at all to drive in bad weather. The only thing that bothers me is when it's in-between and you don't know for sure if it's slick. When it's pure ice/snow I love it.

I think everyone gets all tense and start driving like idiots. Just loosen up a little and have fun with it.

I also enjoy a little spin (sometimes literally) around town in these conditions. Really can make for an interesting day...until someone tries to nail you for recklass driving for fish tailing around corners :realmad:

The way I read that, it's just saying IF those schools are cancelled, it will run them across the bottom of the TV screen, because I'm on campus and there's still activity.

I think you are right - my bad - I found another list on WHO's web site and Ames is not closed but Ames Christian is. I just heard on the radio WHO the DM airport has closed.

My VW is FWD and has anti lock brakes, traction control, and anti skid control. Luckily it has an on/off button for when i want to have fun.

I'm at work covering for all those that didn't make it to work that live closer than I do. When did our society become so soft?!?!?!

My wife was pissed that Ames didn't cancel, we're like the only district in a 50 mile radius that didn't cancel I think. Roads are actually ok so far here, very slushy, could get nasty if it decides to freeze.

there are some times it gets pretty rediculous that Ames\ISU arent closed. Especially given the usual state of snow plowing in Ames.

Yes, they do. I give advice on index allocations for annuities. I get yelled at everyday.

People get complacent and stop paying attention thinking their ABS, or traction control, or SUV will stop them from getting in a wreck.

a lot of people now have a false sense of security as far as what their 4 wheel drive vehicles will do for them.

It's funny that I drive clear across town, from Altoona to West Des Moines, and there are people that live a few miles from here and didn't make it. One lady lives out by Jordan Creek Mall. Now come on. I think half of the people here are missing.

They did once when I was in grade school (4th grade or so) and once for the 1990 ice storm. That's all I can remember.

They had 1 for sure, maybe 2 days off last year during the ice storm.
