Mediacom Speed Increase

Has anyone noticed their Mediacom internet speed increase above the level you are paying for? I have the 12 mbps service, but have been getting around 24 mbps download speeds lately. Some glitch?

Thought I'd check since you mentioned it. Getting 16.4 Mbps download. It used to be right around 9 Mbps. Something has changed. Now it's hitting 18 Mbps.

50.68 download. 5.54 upload with the new Wide Open West package in the Chicago suburbs. We have a three way competition in my town. Reportedly Verizon will be the 4th. It's nice to get quotes and pit one against the other.

I'm part of a test of online speed by the FCC and saw this thread, so checked the data from my device. On March 22 the speed increased from the 11.75 to 15.75 and has held at the faster speed through today.

Mediacom is not contracted service. You can start one month and then drop it the next if you want.

No it's typically capped at the advertised speed.

Cable companies throttle your speed with pretty decent efficiency.

Mine (Suddenlink) is 10 down / 1 up and is usually 9-12 down and .95-1.05 up.

Changes of this magnitude would not be normal.
