Thanks for the link. How about this gem:

"ISU is, for the most part, MAC level. They would fit right in as an upper tier conference contender. They would also become a natural NIU rival."

Wow...

I couldn't wait...

If Iowa State is MAC level then you would expect there to be a pretty good competition between them, what is Iowa State's historical record against current MAC schools:

21-4 with an average score of 32.7-18.8

Yes, it certainly appears we are MAC level... In fact, just to throw another interesting tidbit out there: Our historical records against conferences show that our 84% winning percentage against the MAC is the second highest against any conference, the first, the Big East where we are 1-0 (Pittsburgh in 2000).

We would dominate the MAC year in and year out. Would that be fun? Probably, but i'd rather play the Texas' and Oklahoma's of the world.

I don't think we would. You have to remember that our recruiting would suffer if we moved to the MAC. We wouldn't be able to pull the guys who want be playing in a BCS conference, they'd be going elsewhere. We would have the best facilities, but we wouldn't be able to keep them up or improve on them as our revenue would suffer so badly.

I was going to say we lost to UConn in 2002, but you are right, they were still independent. Is that really the only Big East team we've played?

I love how they said were not good enough to be in the Big 10 from a performance level. What is it about people who are in Big 10 country with thinking the Big 10 is some high performing league on the field? Do they ever watch college football? Don't they see the Big 10 getting their butts handed to them every year in bowl games? The Big 10 routinely gets beat by the MAC, and even D 1A (like UNI). Of course they probably have no idea the Big 10 is 8-17 against The Big 12 the last few years. One thing is for sure though, Iowa State does have an image problem. Need win more consistently I guess.

Yeah it would be fun but the best bowl we would get every year is the little caeser's pizza bowl :twitcy: I would rather stay in a major conference.

Like Ball State going 12-0, ranked #22, and going to the GMAC bowl... Where they proceeded to get stomped by Tulsa 45-13. :twitcy:

It's obviously BS, but it just shows you the perception that people have. Most of the fans realize ISU is above MAC level, but for whatever reason schools like Minnesota and Indiana are seen as better than us.

If you consider teams that were in the Big East at the time of the game, yes.

Big East football has only been around since 1991.

If you want to go by our record against current Big East teams:

Connecticut: 0-1 (2002)
Pittsburgh: 1-0 (2000)
Syracuse: 0-1-1 (1957 & 1969)

Overall: 1-2-1
