Has anyone else had a cough this year that won't go away? I NEVER get sick, but for the last 10 days or so have had a cough (little bit of sniffles) that I can't kick. Tried the pills and potions and they don't help. Need some home remedies.

I knew this would be the first reply and should have said I've already tried it (more than once) did'nt help but did'nt hurt!
i got the flu bad one year and ended up with a recurring cough for about a year once. never coughed much before or since.
Are you saying that you had a cough for a YEAR. Don't tell me that. What are the symptoms.
I know my brother has dealt with something similar, he's been hacking for well over a week now, just can't fully kick the cough.
I had a really bad cough for a couple of weeks a few months ago. I finally went to the doctor and he said it was probably due to a virus and typically will run it's course in about 2 weeks. He also prescribed cough syrup with codeine and that seemed to help kill it off.
Earlier this fall into the winter, I had a bad cough for a solid month. Thankful to say its gone now.
You could also try eating dark chocolate. Some research has suggested that it can act to suppress coughs.

The best stuff I've ever taken for a cough was Tessalon Perles, but you need a prescription. I'm not sure you'd get one with just a nagging cough though.

The whole time I've been in Arkansas I never got sick but the minute I get back to Iowa to spend the winter I'm getting sick a hell of a lot. This latest one started out as a sore throat followed by some minor cold symptoms and then the cough set in. I came down to Kansas City to hang with my son and daughter for Christmas and now my son says he has a sore throat.

Nothing more annoying than being out in a public place and the person next to you is hacking/sneezing.

I had a bad cough from my lungs about a month ago. After a week of fighting it and feeling like crap went to the doctor and got some good drugs that took care of it. Dont let it go too long Doc said there is some bad crap out there this year and if I didnt get it taken care of when I did I would have been in the hospital.
It was recurring and it started by coughing whenever. Then, it only really flared up in the evenings. The frequency of the flare-ups became less consistent and with more time in between. Eventually, it stopped entirely but it took about a year. I just assumed it was what was leftover from the flu's I had (I caught it twice that winter).
I had not known how terrible coughing could be before that. I hope yours gets better quickly!
Yeah... I had a wicked cough that I'm finally getting over. 2 weeks of it was bad... every morning was terrible. It never really hurt and I never felt tired or ill other than a bunch of crap in my throat. The third week it went away.
Exactly, if people who are annoyed would stay at home we'd be much better off.
