We just don't have the guys, period, end of story. The Cyclones were just plain out talented tonight. Stanford has had some decent teams and some good players. Coaches can only do so much.
Only in the world of sports can you make up language like that, yet, everyone knows exactly what you mean.
I beg to differ. We've competed with everyone we've played thus far with the exception of Tech. With more competent players than we have right now, we could be 5-1 instead of 1-5. More likely though, we'd be 3-3 with more semi-competent players, which, IMO, is the more realistic way of looking at everything.
Yes, it sucks losing like we did, but we all (should) have realized that our D didn't have a chance unless our Offense actually did something, which they've shown that they can't. We gain a TO, then give them one the VERY NEXT PLAY! Holding onto the ball is something that really can't be coached, either you can, or you can't. I won't lie, but anyone that thought we should win at least 4 games this year with how many starters left has no real grasp about how important starters are in football in comparison to other sports such as wrestling and basketball.
I believe that is at least the second time that has happened so far this season.:skeptical:
There are no moral victories. Competing w/ crappy teams is not a moral victory. Blowing a 10 point lead on the road to Nebraska and running a million more plays than the opponent means nothing. Trying to find positives out of a no-win situation is like pulling teeth.
And pulling teeth when there is no cavity is pointless. We've been in these games, but shot ourselves in the face.
Honestly, what did you expect this year? Are you one of the people I talked to that expected a quick turn-around even after last year? Last year we should have won one less game than we have this season.
They maybe in California but dont forget it is Stanford and last I checked they do have a pretty good academic system in place.
Looking at the biggest upset of the year, or the biggest Cinderella story of the year, and comparing your team to it constantly is liking watching a porno and comparing the size of your..... to theirs. Not that I have that problem. :nah:
I didn't expect a one season turnaround, but the way we have been losing is demoralizing. Our gameplan is to try and keep it close because we suck. I'd rather throw it every down and take every risk possible if it gives us a better chance of scoring points. Running the ball to eat up the clock so we don't get spanked by 50 gets old.
I understand this in a way, but I disagree. I'd rather play close, with the possibility of winning the game that get blown out because we're overmatched. Basically, I'd rather have good coaching (keeping it close), than exploiting it by personnel (being blown out game after game).
I can definitely see your point. It's like dying a very slow death every Saturday. But I just get the feeling that this strategy will get us an upset sooner or later.

Your premise is totally flawed...the Stanford program is not "fixed"...they lost their first 3 conference games by an average score of 47-17. Yes, they beat USC last night but that does not mean the program is "fixed"...clearly USC was looking past Stanford...and to their credit, Stanford was able to capitalize on this. However, the fact remains...Stanford is 2-4 (1-3) in conference with one big upset. You can hardly say their program is "fixed".
