I know this may be way out there but with all of the financial problems the state is having will Iowa push for a system like Wisconsin now that the Big12 is breaking up. Iowa at Iowa City as the flagship with Ames next followed by Cedar Falls.

Since most Iowa fans now see us as a definite second tier team why wouldn't they push to make it official? I wouldn't want this but I could see it as a logical argument from a Hawk fan as a way to have solidarity in the state and allow them to be "the" school.

Ehhhhh.

I'm all for it, but with a small revision.

Name UNI "Northern Iowa State University" and Iowa "Eastern Iowa State University"

That way both NISU and EISU would benefit with from their affiliation with Iowa State.

Can all current and former students enter into a blood pact that we will burn the university to the ground before we allow this to happen?

I know this is somewhat tongue in cheek, but I do believe that is the way those arrogant sobs view ISU. Don't give the BOR in this state any ideas. If they could strip ISU to the bone athletically and academically they would do it in a heartbeat. All this process has done is expose that for everyone to see.

You're not the only one. To quote CW from yesterday "ISU fans are just sick of getting kicked in the junk".

C'mon guys... Can't we put the Hawkeye Inferiority Complex aside for a little bit? Seems like maybe there's some bigger issues in Cyclone Nation at the moment- like the fact ISU may not have a conference by the end of the week. Just sayin'...

Uh no. Seriously, there is a lot more in play in that scenario then just sports.

One of the current candidates for Iowa governor basically tried to do the very thing the OP mentioned the last time he was in office. Polls seem to indicate that this candidate is going to be Iowa's next governor. So what's to stop him from trying it again this time around?

Your statement is very true, however, I cannot imagine Miles and "Farm Bureau Lang", sitting by if the Big East or the Big 12 were screwing Iowa. If I remember correctly, Lang handed out all the trophies at the state basketball tournaments just a few months ago promoting sports for all schools in Iowa. Now they sit idly by as we are being dragged through yet another turmoil. Will we hear from the Board of Regents this week? Texas' Board of Regents was all over the place the other day when Baylor was being left out for an invite into the Pac 10. Our Board of Regents has not even yet made a statement! Can they not create something effective?

That may be, but when the day is over it's how much money is in the till.

We've got to be diligent in evaluating this," another SEC athletic director told ESPN.com's Schlabach. "We can't just add teams who are going to split the pie without adding anything substantial to the pie."

All of the Dems should be outraged over this quote!
