Report: Cleveland Cavaliers fire coach Mike Brown despite 61-win season - ESPN

EDIT: ESPN is reporting that it's not yet a done deal, but here is the original SI report:

Cavs fire Brown after second-round loss

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired head coach Mike Brown, two league sources told SI.com.
Brown, who won the NBA's Coach of the Year Award last year, compiled a 272-138 record in five seasons leading the Cavaliers. He also led the team to the playoffs in each of those seasons, including a Finals apperance in 2007.

Cleveland's inability to return to the championship round in the last two years, especially after nabbing the league's best record in both seasons, drew criticism of Brown's ability to manage his team and winning rotations.

A source also told SI.com that GM Danny Ferry, who does not have a contract for next season, is still with the team for the forseeable future.

Probably making a run for Phil Jackson in an attempt to keep LeBron around. What I hear on the radio is if the Cavs lose LeBron, the team's market value will decrease by ~$100 million.

There was pretty much a 0% chance to re-sign LeBron if this didn't happen. Not a shock.

I am kind of surprised that this happened considering that he took the cavs to the finals in 2007 (well maybe it was LeBron) but he was a good coach and will find another job quickly. He just didn't get it done in crunch time.

Where is Shaq in all this discussion of how crappy the Cavs season turned out? He was supposed to get the King a Ring. What a friggin joke.

Lebron leaves for New Jersey and their multi billionaire owner.

are you all ********? it says they are sticking with brown lol

are YOU ********?

Despite the fact that Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said the team is continuing to "evaluate" coach Mike Brown, two league sources have told SI.com that Brown will be fired.
The sources said that Gilbert has made his decision, although he may not have informed Brown yet. In his Friday afternoon press conference, Gilbert would not say that Brown would be back next season.

Shaq was brought in for them to get past Howard and the Magic...period. Unfortunately, for the Cavs, they never made it to the Magic.

You obviously have some issues...and dont know anything so you should just stop posting lol
Boys Boys - no need to get so excited, it's just the NBA- not worth fighting over. Now if it was about girl scout cookies, beer, or what kind of tv- then you can exchange words.
