Be aware.... Cops are out and about on all areas to from Downtown today. Must be trying to meet month end quotas. Maybe they should be out trying to make DSM a safer place and not worry about rush hour traffic and people getting to work on time.

Or maybe some people should be a little more organzied and leave earlier in the morning and not jeapordize other people's safety by speeding during the busiest time of day in the busiest part of the state?

And making people obey traffic laws is part of their job and it DOES make DSM a safer place.

They must have moved south from last night. Around 7:30pm there were 5 or 6 of them around 2nd Ave and Euclid and 3 of them had someone pulled over already.

Is it really a trap? Or is it just where they happen to be sitting and catching speeding vehicles?

Dude, it's the end of month. QUOTA TIME!!!

Seriously, especially in a down economy, drive slow, and follow every conceivable traffic law at the end of the month. Last month my girlfriend got a ticked for "failing to pull over a lane when passing an emergency vehicle", even though she was getting passed on the left, and she slowed down to 10 MPHs UNDER the speed limit. They're going to write tickets, regardless of how blurry your "violation" is. If it's at all close, you're getting one.

So she didn't pull over when an emergency vehicle was coming? Isn't that pretty Driver's Ed 101?

Pretty sure he meant that there was an emergency vehicle stopped on the shoulder, and she couldn't get over to the far lane because there were other cars there so she slowed to 10 below the limit.

Since the signs say "Move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles"

Ah, I think you're right, I misunderstood.

This. She slowed down, but it wasn't enough. The law was just passed a year or two ago, and the cop was complaining that they haven't made people aware of it enough.

IMO, a warning would have sufficed if the cop's goal was to inform the public of this law.

If it was early in the month, or the State had a surplus, she wouldn't have gotten a ticket. Not complaining, as much as just letting people know that if it's remotely close, you WILL get a ticket right now, so you have to be overly cautious of police activity.

Good. When the cops aren't around we complain. When they are around we complain. They have a pretty tough job.

Kind of like lawyers.
