What I want to know is if someone left the party Jon was at before or shortly after. What doesn't make sense to me is Jon tried making a call at 10:57, but it only lasted 2 seconds and that was an hour and a half after he was last seen.

Did anyone from the small party say whether he was going home for sure?

I read in one of the stories that there was a polar plunge in Lake Laverne the morning after the night AB went missing. Creepy thought jumping in there with him in there to say the least....

9:30 - Jon left small gathering in good spirits.
10:57 - 2 second phone call

So the crucial part of the timeline is what happened between 9:30 and 10:57.

1. The walk from Chamberlain to Buchanan Hall likely was down Chamberlain; through St. Thomas Aquinas Church and onto Buchanan Hall. Possible abduction point would be STA parking lot because it is somewhat isolated and dimly lit. The area right as you go up the incline there is a very dark spot right off to the left.
2. Other theories are the following:
a. Jon meets random girl earlier in the day; she invites him to meet her at one of the dark lit bars; possibly Sips; Paddys or Welch Ave; maybe Mickeyes. He does so; gets slipped something and the rest is history.
b. Or Jon exits apartment; runs into a random gal that invites him to a gathering or a bar and he is slipped something.

One possible drug he is slipped is liquid LSD. The perpetrators then stand back and watch the victim go into meltdown mode and take him somewhere and drown him like in a bathtub. Then either dump the body in a river; stream; pond nearby; possibly even as much as two to three weeks later or never.

The most likely entry point I can think of is either disk golf courses. The ISU disk golf course is very easy to get into and the car would most likely not be spotted. Driver drops off another perpetrator and the victim. Perpetrator drags body using an oversized piece of luggage; carefully puts into water; possibly injecting something that may cause victim to sink for a certain amount of time or strategically placing near fallen branches or sink holes. Then perpetrator meets driver in frederickson court; gets in the car and goes. Snow falls the next day and covers the track.

Other parts of squaw creek are not as easy to get to; but possibly a drop off point is at the ISU welcome center near Jack Trice at the corner.

Look at all hotel and motel records for the 22nd. Look for any out of towners from Minnesota or Wisconsin area; once the list is gathered call your boys at the NSA and get every phone call; every atm transaction. Perpetrator(s) could leave with the body the next day only to return it a few weeks later after search efforts are exhausted.

2 second phone call indicates to me he tried to make a call and then hung up abruptly. (assuming he was forced to hang up)

After that, no trace of the cell which means the possible perpetrator(s) took the battery out.

This is consistent with other SFK cases.

The trace was still inbetween point A and point B. So he could have went home.. then left again in the same direction? Or he was in a van and they hadn't left that area... he managed to get his phone out but was caught immediately. You would think IF he knew he was in trouble the number he would dial is 911. Handing him his phone could of been part of some sick torture that they were doing like they say the SFK's do before killing them or whatever. They also send they tend to set little clued heading them in the wrong direction.

Everything I've read in the newspapers says that the 10:57 cell phone activity was simply a ping where the cell tower made connection. He didn't place a call.

Unless someone can point me to that piece of info, not posted here, I'd like to think it was just the cell tower hitting the phone with a ping.

Occam's Razor: I just had a cousin die a week or so ago when he was walking his dog. He slipped on ice on the sidewalk, hit his head, and died. It was a freak accident. Something like this happening is more plausible than any elaborate scheme, but nobody has talked much about this sort of scenario. I heard that the police were digging through snow piles at sites where the city takes the snow they remove, so perhaps the ending to this will be tragic, but the explanation will be very simple.

It's felt that they may use cell phone jammers. Scroll a little bit more than half-way down on this page:

My major problem with the smiley face killers theory is that according to the investigators there have to be atleast 2 killers commiting these crimes. How many serial killer pairs have you ever heard of operating 300 miles apart at the same time? From what I understand most serial pairs work together with one of 2 things happening there being a submissive and one being a dominate. Or you end up with matched pairs of pyschos who interests overlap but style have different needs from the kill. Operating apart doesn't lend itself to either one of these scenarios.
I think with these deaths people are starting to twist facts to match theories instead of creating theories to match what we know. Though I am willing to accept that some of these deaths are suspicious and that based on the large numbers they should be looked at and investigated just be prepared for what you think you know to be wrong

Well I'm sorry that you do not believe the word from a Police Officer inside the investigation and that I can not give you a link to his mouth.

I doubt they are all the same people and all connected. There is a such thing as copy cat killers.

So I explained to a friend I have on campus about the SFK when we were discussing Lacina's disappearance, going back to Abel Bolanos' death. She tells me today there's a smiley spray painted on the Armory, which is across the street from the Design Building (Lacina was a design student) and sent me a pic of it.

I think it's a sick joke...usually there's a circle around the smiley, but this one didn't have it although I've seen others from other cases with no circle around it.

Sick joke maybe? Who knows, but it's screwed up big time.
