Thank God someone else thinks "Use Somebody blows. All I ever hear down here are KoL groupies.

I'll add "Dirt Room" by Blue October, mostly because since they're from Houston, the local radio station OD'd on that song. I kid you not, one day in July on my 5 driving segments (to work, to a class @12, back to work @2, to the gym after work, and back home) I heard that song SIX times.

Complete and epic fail. This thread starts and ends with "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus.

I will claim being underinformed on this item. I have honestly never heard that song, much to my relief.

I really, really loved Kings of Leon the last several years, and thought that the new CD (while maybe not their best) was decent. Then I heard each and every song on there 5000 times, and am now just done with them. It's great for them to get recognition, it's ridiculous to overplay anything to this extent.

I think a fair amount of the worst songs list is done because the stations just overplay stuff so much, and it keeps getting worse.

Another reason I don't think you'll see popular bands like the Beatles, Areosmith, etc - cross generations with their wide popularity. When a bad gets good these days, they're overplayed and feel the pressure to rush to put out new stuff to feed the market and capitalize on it. Instead, they over saturate it with their stuff and people get tired of them.

I'm shocked it took somebody 50 posts to say this song. That song is so ridiculously bad future generations will make fun of us for it.

The family tree does lend itself to "historically noteable" bad songs

Never heard this OWl City song so I looked it up on youtube. I can't believe people like that. That is definitely the worst song of 2009, if not the decade. I was going to say I gotta feeling by the black eyed peas, but wow, that owl city song is bad.

What underground fallout shelter have you two been living in? I mean I listen to AM and I've heard those two songs at least 10 times each through other various random sources.

I'd maybe recognize it if I heard it? (I don't think I'll be doing that willingly, though.) I tend to have a pretty quick hand when it comes to turning the radio dial when it's something I don't want to hear.

Exactly. If it starts out bad, the nob is turning.

I don't know, I have less of a problem with that song than what seems like an increasing amount of rock radio that is just derivative of Nickelback or ripping of a '90s band and not doing it well. At least it sounded different before it got overplayed.

It sounded like generic music mixed with unfathomably bad lyrics, and a god awful attempt of sounding unique.

I guess I give points for the attempt to sound unique, even if it does wear out its welcome quickly, more than I do to the graduates of "Chris Daughtry's School of Ripping Off Alternative Heroes of the '90s".

I should say that the music industry has become so bad since this millennium began, that their really isn't a whole lot of music I like now a days, but that song makes the rest of the music this decade look amazing.
