Does that guy know how bad he is and sounds?
I think if the best you can do is still an abomination of epic proportions you get the nod. Like I said before, I think the Foo Fighters have earned a little lee way, and their song isn't bad, it's just forgettable. There really wasn't any coming around - they're pretty undisputably awful. The question is if it's a bigger offense to produce crap when you're capable of producing so much better, or when it's the best they can do?

But that's the answer to a different question. If you wanted Most Underacheiving Artist of 2009, you've got yourself a heck of an argument.
good girls go bad by whoever the hell that is. i bet my left nut those guys don't make good girls go bad.
Old Foo Fighters earned some leeway, but the reason that "Wheels" disappointed me so greatly is that it just seems to confirm a trend that I've seen with their music lately to try and be more and more mainstream.
Most over played for sure.
I think we've had a "best of 2009" thread, but what's your vote for worst song of 2009? (I'm seeing a lot of Lady Gaga in the future, based off of some recent threads...)
I think I have to go with "Wheels" by Foo Fighters, a band I generally enjoy. I was hoping that song would prove me wrong that they're becoming increasingly commercial with their ballads, but it is just completely unremarkable in every way.
No kiddin, in a couple years KoL will be sharing Nickelback status and all the people who thought they were great will move on the next trendy thing thats not supposed to be trendy.
I have found some evidence to support your theory. Don't hold it against me for knowing this, but since my kid is watching Spongebob 24/7 over break, I noticed that Use Somebody is on the latest Kids (Kidz?) Bop album that they've been advertising every 9 minutes. Pretty sure that's Step 5 on on the "Becoming Nickelback" staircase.
Complete and epic fail. This thread starts and ends with "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus.
To me, "Wheels" is Dave Grohl channelling Tom Petty. The song structure, the lyrics, the feel, all mid 90's Petty. Given that Grohl was very briefly a Heartbreaker, I see that song as an homage that filled out the greatest hits CD.
Back on topic; the song She Wolf by Shakira is beyond awful. There has been a lot of subpar stuff this year, but for some reason that song really jumps out for me.
Oh, and Jordin Sparks - Battlefield. That might have the worst lyrics of the decade.
I really hope I don't hear this song at the bars tonight. Something will likely be broken.

you're a music snob on the internet - but I bet it's actually your ringtone.
Better put your hands up Al, cause they're playing your song!
You got me. You should see all the Miley posters I have at home. Bumper sticker, too.
