Riddle me this. how is Cole Aldrich A co-player of the year and not a unanimous choice to all Big Twelve?

And yet many national publications and analysis have us 9th in the Big 12.

It's NCAA tournament or bust this year in my opinion.

Agreed, ISU has a pretty ambitious non-conf. schedule, if they get through that with 12 W's, it sets up nicely to get what I think are an attainable 7-8 W's in conference.

It is pretty frustrating to think that calendar year 2005 was the last time ISU was in the dance and/or bowled in football.

It's great to have real optimism for the upcoming season, unlike the last few years!

KUClone wanted his Jayhawk guys listed without having to go to the link.

Once again, your username is spot on.

Good question. The only way it's explainable is if it was a separate votes for the team and the POY. So perhaps someone like Pat Knight didn't put Aldrich as a first teamer (Aldrich had an awful game vs. TTU last season), but he still got enough votes (probably 3-4 out of the 12 coaches) in the POY vote.

Nice to get some recognition, but what really is the point of a preseason award? They make no sense to me. I guess it just puts some pressure on some guys to live up to the hype?

I'm encouraged by the recognition for Gilstrap. He needs to be on that level for this team to take the next step and be a tourney team.

Nice to see that Gilstrap already has respect outside the ISU circle.

I know I'm in the minority but I think "NCAA or bust" is not the right thinking. NCAA is possible but not probable. I am the last guy to give GMac a break but let's not set ourselves up to jump off a cliff when we land in the NIT.

Gilstrap being new comer of the year is sweet, but I would have thought Brackins would have been up there with player of the year. Get em Craig prove em wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and then tell barnes you will stay for your senior year to play with him )
