Though we will hopefully make the NCAA this year, when will we finally get back to a bowl game and make the NCAA in the same year?

I guess another question is which year do we have the best chance. I think football will get better under Rhoads, but with Brackins likely leaving after this season (depending on what HB does) this will probably be our best chance to make the tourney for a few years.

This year may be our best shot.

To ruin this thread...I guess it depends on if we get Barnes.

Maybe will get two national titles in the same year. I don't know if I'm joking or not, I guess we will find out soon enough.

Instead of both, how about the trifecta? Bowl game, men's NCAA, and women's NCAA, all in the same year? We did it in 2000-2001 and again in 2004-2005, one of a very select few schools to accomplish that in those seasons. Here's our recent record of postseason play in the "Big 3":

2000-2001: Bowl game, Men's NCAA, Women's NCAA

2001-2002: Bowl game, Women's NCAA

2002-2003: Bowl game, Men's NIT

2003-2004: Men's NIT, Women's NIT

2004-2005: Bowl game, Men's NCAA, Women's NCAA

2005-2006: Bowl game, Women's NIT

***This is the point where Jamie Pollard overhauled the football and men's basketball programs as part of his next big step.***

2006-2007: Women's NCAA

2007-2008: Women's NCAA

We'll get back to bowl games and men's NCAA tournaments when Pollard's damage is undone -- hard to put a timetable on that.

So if we do manage to do both this year, will you go away?

I have a coworker that bet me $100.00 that we win the Big 12 Basketball championship and another $50.00 that we make the Final Four this year. I believe we will be improved this year and may make the NCAA, but I had to take this bet. Easy money. This was under the condition that Brackins and Stieger stayed.

So if we go to a Bowl and MBB NCAA this year, does that mean that JP has undid JP damage:confused:

Seriously, dude, there are some of us that may or may not agree with some of JP's decisions, but we would like to see JP succeed (whether he can or not is to be seen). I get the feeling you would whether see ISU lose than to see JP succeed in something.

One question, hypothetically, if you could chose between JP succeeding at ISU starting this year with bowl wins and NCAA appearances, or firing JP now knowing that it would take several more years to correct all the things JP "messed up", which would you chose?

Really... Secede....

Undid is pretty good too, but you used secede like three times.

First, I didn't think it looked right, but I didn't know I needed to proof read.

Second, four periods after Secede, you know it should only be three:no:

If we don't do it this year, we may have to wait another 2-3 years for it to happen. Hope not though. The football schedule gets crazy hard, and losing Brackins and Gilstrap will set us back.

I think both the football team and the bball team have a shot to sneak in this year, but I don't think that we will get both. After that, we likely lose Brackins, and the football schedule is brutal the next two years. I'm also very doubtful that we land Barnes.

Given that, I'm voting 2012-2013. The football schedule softens up and CPR has had some time to build the program up, and I think bball will finally be off and running by then, Barnes or no Barnes (and if not, we should have a new coach).

Does your coworker (we'll call him idiot from this point on) want to take the same bet with me?
