212 (I'll never call it the London Underground), Thumbs, Story City Legion Hall (I think they even used to have Old Style on tap? )

Legion Post #59. My favorite bar because it's a real short commute from the Broodwich family compound, cheap and has some great service.

Stop up on Wednesday nights for $1.25 tacos.

BTW, I installed the FREE WiFi there.

Mon: Micky's it was ladies night, and always had my friend get my drinks!
Tues: Paddy's for two for one
Wed: Start at Paddy's for buck burgers and bottles, and at 9 went to Sips for 75 cent captain and cokes!
Thur:Sips, ladies night (see Monday)
Fri: MoJazz for FAC, penny pitchers, then floated to where ever, so drunk I didn't care, Micky's for a while had $1 tallboys cans of Old Style, and 2 for 1 shots!
Sat: Went with the flow, mostly Cy's, Micky's and Sips
I get hung over just thinking about those days.
I seem to remember you in a fight one night outside of one of these bars:
Bouncer:
You want to go to jail?
Cyznutz Friend to bouncer:
You want to die?
Bouncer laughed, we went back in and drank.

There aren't any fantastic bars in Ames - I just follow the specials or wherever everyone else is going for the night. I mostly go to Cy's - sometimes Element, Capones, Es Tas or Sips.

So what I am hearing, after reading 8 pages, is that my favorite bars will not be around in a couple years?

Good lord, I haven't heard of half the bars you all are talking about...

I graduate in a month so I best make my memories now!

My favorite bar back in college was Es Tas in the old hole-in-the-wall location. I've stopped by the new location a couple of times since graduation...it's nice, but just not the same.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but 6-7 years ago a good friend that lived on the northside got an owi and couldn't drive anywhere.
He started to talk about this bar, called it a diamond in the rough, the Meeting House. I had to go check it out. Beautiful women worked there, man oh man.
Probably haven't been there in a few years though but I really enjoyed it.

I'm with you about That Place. I probably served you at some time. I worked there from the mid 70's through school. I still keep in touch with my old boss.
I found this site while looking for information on Granddaddy's. I client I was talking to said she saw U-2 there in 1980 for a $3 cover. Claims to have had conversations with all the members.
In dog-town I lived above the Cave-In Lounge (next to the fire station) for a year (1974-75), very popular and fun. The Library Bar was just up the street towards the Towers.
My preference was always That Place though, even when I wasn't working. I went to other downtown bars when there was no good Foosball opposition at That Place.
My mom and dad were managers at Cave-in and then my dad lived in the apts above Cy's that turned into Lost & Found Lounge.
