Cyclone commit performance of the week
ATH Carson Hansen, Lakeville South (MN)
Lakeville South 69, Park 14
For the second straight week, Iowa State saw one of its commitments to the 2023 recruiting class have a four-touchdown night on the offensive side of the football. Carson Hansen, out of Minnesota, helped his team to a blowout win with 113 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries. Hansen also scored on his lone reception of the game. ATH ABU SAMA, SOUTHEAST POLK
Southeast Polk (2-0) 24, West Des Moines Valley (1-1) 7
A week removed from his four-touchdown night to open the season, Abu Sama again made plays at the running back position. Connecting on two scores, Sama rushed for 126 yards on 20 carries in SEP’s win over Valley. Sama collected three tackles defensively.
QB J.J. KOHL & DB JAMISON PATTON, ANKENY
Ankeny (2-0) 17, Ankeny Centennial (0-2) 10
Jamison Patton did his thing for Ankeny as he helped lead his team to the rivalry win behind 118 receiving yards on eight catches. He also corralled seven tackles on the defensive end. Half of J.J. Kohl’s 212 yards through the air went to Patton, and the quarterback finished the game with a touchdown and no interceptions.
TE CARSON RHODES, NEVADA
West Marshall (2-0) 35, Nevada (1-1) 31
Carson Rhodes, Iowa State’s first commitment in the 2023 class, did not register any stats in Nevada’s first loss of the season.
ATH KOOPER EBEL, HARTLEY-MELVIN-SANBORN
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (1-1) 50, Gehlen Catholic 35
Kooper Ebel’s final stats were not listed in HMS’ first win of the season, but Ebel did shout out his offensive line on Twitter.
WR KAI BLACK, URBANDALE
Urbandale (1-0) 27, Bettendorf (0-1) 14
Kai Black played his first game for the Jayhawks this season after sitting out with an injury a week ago. Although Urbandale was downed by Johnston, Black ended the game with four receptions for 35 yards.

Brandon Henderson, as an offensive lineman, didn’t have any stats in East St. Louis’ week 2 matchup, but does appear in here – No. 77 – in the team’s entrance as well as a rushing highlight.

Samuel Same forced an interception during his game against Manhattan – his highlights can be found here.

Beni Ngoyi caught the first touchdown to kick off the scoring for Lincoln High on Friday, collecting three receptions for 39 yards in the blowout victory.

Iowa State boasts four commits from Florida and another non-Midwest commit from Oklahoma, each of which will kick off the season this Friday:

Final stats were not listed for Jason Hammond’s game against Fort Meyers, but he did receive a team award during the week before helping STA to a 2-0 start.

Bayside High School did not list offensive statistics for its win over Holy Trinity, however, Parkes was credited with a tackle in the game.
