MBB: Transfer Guard Mason Williams Undergoes Hip Surgery, Will Likely Miss 2025-26 Season

Eastern Washington transfer guard Mason Williams underwent successful hip surgery on a preexisting injury earlier this week and will most likely miss the entire 2025-26 season, the program announced today.

Williams comes to Ames with two years of eligibility remaining. As a sophomore in the Big Sky Conference, the 6’5 guard averaged 13.9 points per game to go with 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

This surgery didn’t come as a surprise to T.J. Otzelberger and Co. CycloneFanatic reported to our premium subscribers back in April that Williams was injured.

Aside from Williams, Iowa State enters the season with 12 scholarship players plus walk-on Anthony Rice.
