AMES, Iowa – Iowa State 141-pounder Jacob Frost has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Frost earned victories over two top-20 opponents last weekend, including the highest-ranked win of his career against Oklahoma State’s No. 4 Tagen Jamison. It was a tactical match from Frost as he was busy with his shot fakes throughout the bout which paid dividends on his deciding takedown in sudden victory for a 4-1 decision.

The Metairie, Louisiana native also notched a win over Oklahoma’s No. 19 Mosha Schwartz, a three-time NCAA Qualifier, on Friday. Frost controlled the match from start to finish as he tallied three takedowns, while allowing none, in a 10-4 victory.

The sophomore did not allow a takedown during the weekend as he improved to 22-4 on the season. Frost has won eight-consecutive matches and climbed to No. 9 in FloWrestling’s latest 141-pound national rankings.

No. 13 Iowa State is back in action Feb. 7 and 9 when it plays host to Arizona State and No. 16 Pittsburgh.
