Iowa State to debut new script ‘Cyclones’ helmets with white & black uniforms

The No. 16 Iowa State Cyclones will be coming out with a new look on Saturday (6:30 p.m. FOX) at Jack Trice Stadium for their night game against the Baylor Bears.

Iowa State will be rocking a white helmet with its black logo package – something fans have seen in the past – but this time, with a new helmet.

The new helmets will feature a white shell, with the vintage ‘Cyclones’ script logo set in black on the side.

It’s a unique twist on what appears to be Iowa State bringing the vintage logo back into modern usage, along with its new gold basketball uniforms.

The helmet will also feature a stripe, although its unclear from the photos shared if the stripe fades out on the top of the lid, or goes completely down the bottom of the helmet.

The equipment room Twitter account first teased the new look when it posted a video taking the block, ‘I-State’ logo off of the side of the helmet.

This is the first time Iowa State will wear white helmets with black accents since the 2021 Cy-Hawk game, a 27-21 loss to Iowa.

The Cyclones also rocked the same uniform and helmet combo in a 49-24 win over TCU in 2019.

Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game, as Iowa State debuts its new white version of the black & white branding coach Matt Campbell brought to the program.

Jack Trice Stadium will also feature black-and-white logos on the field, as it did for Iowa State’s 37-30 win over No. 18 Oklahoma in 2020.

Donor Parking lots for the game will open at 10:00 a.m. while grass lots are open to the public at 12:30 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
