George Conditt IV clinches Olympic spot, three other former Cyclones could make rosters

Another former Cyclone is headed to the Paris Olympics this summer.

George Conditt IV, playing for the Puerto Rico national team, helped clinch the squad a spot in the Olympics in a 79-68 win over Lithuania on Sunday.

Conditt IV is one of the teams regular starters and collected six points along with five rebounds and four assists in the Qualifying Tournament championship game.

Puerto Rico is slated to be in the same pool play group as Team USA, where Conditt IV will face off against his former college teammate in Tyrese Haliburton.

There’s a chance that there may be more than one matchup involving two former Iowa State players, too.

Marial Shayok (South Sudan), Nick Weiler-Babb (Germany) and Melvin Ejim (Canada) each survived the most recent rounds of roster cuts and are waiting to see if they will suit up when those countries announce their 12 players for the event.

South Sudan is also in the same group for pool play as both Puerto Rico and USA.

Bridget Carleton is also representing Iowa State with Team Canada on the women’s side.

Group stage for the men’s tournament begins on Saturday, July 27, though broadcast schedules have not yet been finalized.
