Dwayne Pierce announces he will step away from Iowa State men’s basketball program

Iowa State forward Dwayne Pierce announced over his Instagram channel Wednesday that he will be stepping away from the men’s basketball program for personal reasons.

Pierce, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound forward, was rated as the No. 157 player in his recruiting class and originally committed to Iowa State in January of 2023.

His full statement read:

“Dear Cyclone Nation, Thank you for welcoming me from day one, you truly are the best fans. I will be stepping away from Iowa State and the Men’s Basketball program for personal reasons. I want to wish Coach TJ and my teammates well in the upcoming season.”

Pierce chose Iowa State over Memphis, Illinois, LSU, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, George Washington, Florida State, St. Johns, Rutgers and New Mexico State.

The Cyclones now have one open scholarship to use for the 2024-25 season.
