Iowa State coach Matt Campbell announced to media members Monday that linebacker Carson Willich has suffered a season-ending injury during the spring practice period.
The Blue Springs, Missouri native got hurt during the beginning of spring practice, according to Campbell.
“Carson is obviously a guy that’s that’s played good football for us and it’s certainly disappointing, but he’s already had surgery and he’s already on the mend,” Willich said. “Unless he gets back late in the season, my guess is we won’t see him again till the following season. But Carson’s done a great job for us already being a great leader – but he is one guy that I would tell you we will not get back for the Fall next year.”
Willich played in all of Iowa State’s 13 games in 2023, collecting 25 tackles and two tackles for a loss, along with a forced fumble against Baylor.
He currently has three years remaining in his collegiate career.
