Cyclones get things right, for the most part, on offense. UNLV is going to struggle up front big-time offensively.

I envision Iowa State’s offense coming out sharp after what I can imagine wasn’t the most pleasant week of practice. Iowa State’s defense does its thing holding UNLV scoreless until breaking through during the second half.

 This should shape up to be the Cyclones’ much-needed “get well” game, but UNLV was able to hang with No. 19 Arizona State in the first half last Saturday before falling, 37-10. The Runnin’ Rebels are 50-142 since 2005 — and their quarterback situation is unsettled. The talent gap is wide here, so I fully expect ISU to finally get its offense going while the defense continues to be stellar.

I’ve said all I need to say this week on what I expect ISU to do this week in prep/practice and what that means to the next opponent, whoever that may be. This opponent just happens to be a young, inexperienced team hosting the Cyclones on what will feel like a bowl game.

This is a “should be” opponent. Things work like they should. On defense, the Cyclones continue dominance because there is a solid two-deep there. The offense should break out, but I have less confidence in that. A comfortable win that leaves the fans “meh” heading into the fourth week.

Right now everyone associated with the offense (players and coaches) feels they need to do more. UNLV is the perfect opponent at the right time. We finally find some consistency in the run game, defense continues to dominate. Clones win easily.

Iowa State finds a little rhythm on O as Breece goes over the century mark for the first time this season. We still won’t cover the 30 point spread unless the defense can hold UNLV to negative points but a win is a win.
