Iowa State’s recruiting class grew again on Friday when three-star wide receiver Jason Essex announced his pledge to Matt Campbell’s program on Instagram.
Essex, a 6-foot-3, 192-pound Kansas City native, is considered the No. 120 wide receiver in the 2022 class and No. 20 player in Missouri by 247Composite. Rated as the No. 898 player overall in the class, Essex chose Iowa State over numerous Power 5 offers, including Colorado, Kentucky, Iowa, Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.
Essex officially visited Iowa State during the first weekend in June.
The Cyclones now hold 15 commitments in their 2022 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 31 class in the country and No. 6 class in the Big 12. Essex is the first wide receiver in the class.
