Iowa State remains in the running for one of the nation’s best players in the 2021 recruiting class.
Omaha combo guard Hunter Sallis included the Cyclones in his top-12 list released on Twitter on Sunday. The other 11 schools on the five-star prospect’s list are Kentucky, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, Creighton, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Auburn, Kansas, Louisville and UCLA.
The 6-foot-4, 165-pound Millard North senior is considered the No. 19 player in the country, No. 2 combo guard and No. 1 player in Nebraska, according to 247Composite. Cutting his list to 12 eliminates more than half of his 25 public offers, which also included Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Wisconsin.
Iowa State was the first of his final 12 schools to extend a scholarship offer when they did so during an unofficial visit in Sept. 2018.
The Cyclones currently hold one commitment for the 2021 class in four-star Wisconsin point guard Tyrese Hunter, who is considered the No. 13 point guard and No. 78 player in the class. The program is expected to have three scholarships open for the class at this time.
