Iowa State added an explosive guard to its roster on Saturday, and a familiar name at that. Tyler Harris, a junior transfer from Memphis, tweeted out his commitment to Steve Prohm and the Cyclones. He will have two seasons of eligibility in Ames.

Harris, a 5-foot-9, 36 percent 3-point shooter, was formerly recruited by Iowa State out of high school. That was the same class when the Cyclones took Tyrese Haliburton, who is expected to be a lottery pick in this summer’s NBA Draft.

Harris stayed in his hometown of Memphis to play for new head coach Penny Hardaway, where he averaged 10.8 and 8.7 points per game during his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Now, a change of scenery is on the way in the form of Iowa State, where Harris visited multiple times during his recruitment out of high school as a four-star prospect.
