AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sophomore Rasir Bolton has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. It is Bolton’s second honor this season. Kansas’ Udoka Azubuike was named the league’s player of the week.
Bolton scored 20+ points in both games for the Cyclones with averages of 22.0 points and 6.5 rebounds. The Petersburg, Virginia native tallied 21 points, five assists and a career-high nine boards in a win against Oklahoma State and followed with 23 points against Auburn. Bolton made 4-of-6 threes against OSU and connected on 16-of-18 free throws for the week.
Bolton and the Cyclones return to action Wednesday when the host No. 1 Baylor at 8 p.m.
