RECRUITING: Cyclones sign TJ Tampa to complete early signing class

Iowa State’s 2020 early signing class is officially complete.

The final piece of the group was signed on Friday morning when three-star Florida wide receiver TJ Tampa sent in his National Letter of Intent. The Lakewood, Fla. native’s signing was delayed from Wednesday following a late push by SEC power Georgia.

Tampa, a 6-foot-2, 171-pound pass-catcher, is considered the No. 172 wide receiver in the class and No. 1,159 player overall by 247Composite. His recruitment included other programs such as Cincinnati, UCF, Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers and 15 other programs, including the aforementioned Bulldogs.

Iowa State is likely to close the early signing period with the No. 43 class in the country and No. 6 class in the Big 12, according to 247Sports. The group rates just narrowly behind West Virginia and Oklahoma State entering a winter recruiting period in which the Cyclones will more than likely focus on finding graduate transfers rather than additional high school prospects.
