RECRUITING: Cyclones land commitment from three-star Florida guard

One day after losing two members of the program’s 2019 recruiting class, Iowa State added another piece to its 2020 class.

Three-star Florida combo guard Darlinstone Dubar announced his commitment to the Cyclones on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Charlotte, N.C. native officially visited Ames this past weekend.

Dubar is considered the No. 373 player in the 2020 class, No. 88 shooting guard and No. 22 prospect from North Carolina, according to 247Composite. He has not received a rating at this point from 247Sports.

This is Iowa State’s third commitment in the 2020 recruiting cycle joining Georgia point guard Jaden Walker and Florida swingman Dudley Blackwell. The Cyclones are also one of two finalists for top in-state prospect Xavier Foster, who will announce his college choice between Iowa State and Iowa next Monday in a press conference at Oskaloosa High School.

Steve Prohm’s program was originally slated to have two scholarships open for this class, but the departures of freshmen Marcedus Leech and Luke Anderson on Monday pushed that number up to four. It could grow to five depending on other future attrition and the growing NBA profile of sophomore guard Tyrese Haliburton.

Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on this story.
